However, composing long-form\nposts on social networks is not a pleasant experience because their editors are\nnot designed to support long posts and because their formatting options are\nseverely limited.\n\nWhat if you could write that same content in a more durable and flexible format,\nsay Markdown, and later export the text to the formats accepted by the networks\nof your choice? This would let you compose your posts using the myriad of\neditors that support Markdown, would let you store those posts in a version\ncontrol system, and may even let you republish that same content directly on\nyour site with ease.\n\nThis is exactly the goal of Markdown2Social: to let you store your articles'\nmaster copies in a version control system while providing a mechanism to extract\na simplified version that can be shared in a social network. Does this work?\nFor the most part yes, but there are obvious limitations; keep reading.\n\n## Download\n\nThe latest version of Markdown2Social is 0.3 and was released on\nJanuary 14th, 2016.\n\nDownload: [markdown2social-0.3](../../releases/tag/markdown2social-0.3)\n\nSee the [release notes](NEWS.md) for information about the changes in this and\nall previous releases.\n\n## Installation\n\nUsing `pip`:\n\n```\n$ pip install markdown2social\n```\n\nFrom sources after cloning the tree from GitHub:\n\n```shell\n$ ./setup.py install\n```\n\nSee the [detailed installation instructions](INSTALL.md) for additional\ninformation.\n\n## Usage\n\n1. Use `markdown2social` as a filter or with explicit file names to generate\n a `.gplus` file:\n\n ```shell\n $ markdown2social doc.gplus\n $ markdown2social -o doc.gplus doc.md\n ```\n\n1. Open the `.gplus` file in your favorite editor.\n\n1. Copy the whole contents to the clipboard.\n\n1. Paste them into a new Google+ post.\n\n1.
