The website was closed end of August 2016, but the database was made available as a PDF.\n\nkanjinetworks is an interface for extracting, parsing and exporting the etymologies from the PDF file in python.\n\nThe package also include the `kn_to_ja.py` script to import the Kanji Networks etymologies into a [iOS Japanese App](https://japaneseapp.com/) backup files as notes. Warning: existing notes might be lost as this script replaces them.\n\n## Requirements\n\nkanjinetworks is compatible with Python versions 2 and depends on PDF miner.\n\n## Install\n\nTo install kanjinetworks, run pip:\n\n\tpip install kanjinetworks\n\t\nor clone this directory and run setup:\n\n    python setup.py install\n\n## Usage\n\nTo import etymologies into a Japanese App backup files:\n\t\n\tkn_to_ja.py PATH_TO_JAPANESE_BACKUP_FILE\n\t\nTo use the parser:\n\n\tfrom kanjinetworks import get_text\n\tfrom kanjinetworks import KanjiNetworksParser\n\t\n    text = get_text()\n\n    kanjis = KanjiNetworksParser().parse(text)\n    for kanji in kanjis:\n\t\tprint unicode(kanji)\n\n# Credits\n\nThe Etymological Dictionary of Han/Chinese Characters is by Lawrence J.
