When these animals forage in experimental\narenas, grid cells are active only in certain places and the locations where\nthey are active form a hexagonal lattice. More information can be found in\n[MOSER2007]_ or in [HAFTING2005]_.\n\n\nWhat does `gridcells` do\n-----------------------------\n\n`gridcells` is a simple Python library that aims to provide an open source code\nrepository related to analysis of grid cell related experiments and simulation\nof models of grid cells.\n\n\n\nDownload\n--------\n\n`gridcells` can be downloaded from https://github.com/lsolanka/gridcells.\n\n\nDependencies\n------------\n\nThere are a number of dependencies you need to install this package:\n\n    - setuptools (>= 3.6)\n\n    - SWIG  (ideally >= 3.0; earlier versions not tested)\n\n    - numpy (>= 1.8)\n\n    - scipy (>= 0.13.3)\n\n    - matplotlib (>= 1.3.1)\n\nFor Linux, simply install these using the package manager.For Mac OS the\neasiest way is probably to use `homebrew <http://brew.sh/>`_ and pip. This\npackage has not been tested on Windows but if you manage to install the\ndependencies there should be no problems.\n\n\nInstallation\n------------\n\nAfter installing ``SWIG``, run::\n\n    python setup.py install\n\n\nLicense\n-------\n\n`gridcells` is distributed under the GPL license. See LICENSE.txt in the root\nof the source directory. `armadillo`, which is part of this source, is\ndistributed under the `Mozilla Public License 2.0\n<http://arma.sourceforge.net/license.html>`_.
