It is built as \na front-end to Borg, a powerful and fast deduplicating backup program.  With \n*Emborg*, you specify all the details about your backups once in advance, and \nthen use a very simple command line interface for your day-to-day activities.  \nThe details are contained in ~/.config/emborg.  That directory contains a file \n(settings) that contains shared settings, and then another file for each backup \nconfiguration you have.\n\nUse of *Emborg* does not preclude the use of Borg directly on the same \nrepository.  The philosophy of *Emborg* is to provide commands that you would \nuse often and in an interactive manner with the expectation that you would use \nBorg directly for the remaining commands.\n\nAn alternative to *Emborg* is\n`Borgmatic <https://github.com/witten/borgmatic>`_.  It seems largely focused on \nthe archive creation process and offers little for the other management tasks \nsuch as monitoring (*due*, *list*, *manifest*), restoration (*extract*, *restore*,\n*mount*), and maintenance (*check*, *prune*). *borgmatic* recently added support \nfor the Borg extract command.\n\n\nGetting Help\n------------\n\nYou can find the documentation on `ReadTheDocs <https://emborg.readthedocs.io>`_.\n\nThe *help* command provides information on how to use Avendesora's various\nfeatures.  To get a listing of the topics available, use::\n\n    emborg help\n\nThen, for information on a specific topic use::\n\n    emborg help <topic>\n\nIt is worth browsing all of the available topics at least once to get a sense of\nall that *Emborg* can do.",
