Migrating from 0.1 will\n    not be straightforward if you have existing data decimal data or do not\n    have a GIS backend.\n\nIf you are using South you must use South >= 1.0 to ensure compatability with\nthe new `south_migrations` migrations module name.\n\nGetting data\n------------\n\nPostal code data is available from a number of sources, typically on a country\nby country basis. The United States Census Bureau maintains the `Gazetteer\ndatabase <http://www.census.gov/geo/www/gazetteer/gazette.html>`_, including\ndetailed zip code data. The `GeoNames geographical database\n<http://www.geonames.org/export/>`_ also provides postal code data for\ninternational postal codes (and other places).\n\nThe following data file can be used to prepopulate a PostGIS database with US\npostalcodes complete with location.\n\n* `US zip codes using state abbreviations <https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6515401/postalcodes/postalcodes_gis_us.sql.zip>`_ (879 KB)\n\nThese files pertain to the 0.1 release but may still be useful. They are based\non location via decimal fields, rather than a GIS point field.\n\n* `International postal codes <http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6515401/postalcodes/postalcodes_international.sql.zip>`_ (9 MB)\n* `US zip codes using state abbreviations <http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6515401/postalcodes/postalcodes_us.sql.zip>`_ (623 KB)\n\nThe data is licensed under the `Database Contents License <http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/dbcl/1.0/>`_.",
