The sim-community is flooded with good (and bad)\nquality add-ons and extentions. Finding them, arranging them and browsing all sites to find your\nown golden flightsimulator 'installation' is always a pain.\n\nAfter returning to X-plane after a few years (coming from the MS-FS world), nothing that much changed.\nFor that reason it is aimed to create XPpkg:\n\n  * XPpkg is a hassle-free X-Plane package installer, much alike pip in python:\n    to download, install and upgrade various X-Plane packages from various internet sources.\n\n  * XPpkg for developers of packages for X-Plane should be a hassle free way to distribute their packages\n\nInspiration\n===========\n\nMain inspiration comes from my work within the \\*NIX world (That is essential Linux and the \\*NIX with the best graphical\nUI on top: Mac OSX) and python.\n\nPython Package Management Examples:\n\n* pip installer for Python http://www.pip-installer.org/\n* easy_install for Python\n* PyPI is an important integration for both\n\nVarious Linux Examples:\n\n* apt, apt-get, aptitude, dpkg originally created for Debian/GNU Linux\n* rpm\n\nMac OSX Package Management Examples:\n\n* Macports (http://www.macports.org), Homebrew (http://mxcl.github.com/homebrew/)\n\nOther Examples:\n\n* rubygems (http://rubygems.org/)\n\nWebsite\n=======\nA github repository will function for now as the main place for collaboration at https://github.com/jberends/xppkg",
