        "description": "# T&#257;whirim&#257;tea\n\n[![Documentation Status](https://readthedocs.org/projects/tawhiri/badge/?version=latest)](https://readthedocs.org/projects/tawhiri/?badge=latest)\n\n## Introduction\n\nTawhiri is the name given to the next version of the CUSF Landing Prediction\nSoftware, which will probably be different enough from the current version\n(see below) to warrant a new name.\n\nThe name comes from a\n[M&#257;ori](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81ori_people)\ngod of weather, which rather aptly\n&ldquo;drove Tangaroa and his progeny into the sea &rdquo;\n[(WP)](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawhiri).\n\n## More information\n\nPlease see the [CUSF wiki](http://www.cusf.co.uk/wiki/), which contains pages\non [Tawhiri](http://www.cusf.co.uk/wiki/tawhiri:start) and [prediction in\ngeneral](http://www.cusf.co.uk/wiki/landing_predictor).\n\n[More detailed API and setup documentation](http://tawhiri.cusf.co.uk/).\n\n## Setup\n\n### Predictor\n\n\u2026is written for Python 3, is compatible with Python 2, and needs Cython:\n\n```bash\n$ virtualenv venv\n$ source venv/bin/activate\n$ pip install -r requirements.txt\n$ python setup.py build_ext --inplace\n```\n\nThe last line (re-)builds the Cython extensions, and needs to be run again\nafter modifying any `.pyx` files.\n\n\n### Downloader\n\nThe downloader uses gevent, so we are disappointingly restricted to running\nit under Python 2 for now (Issue #18).\n\n```bash\n$ sudo aptitude install libevent-dev libjasper-dev libopenjpeg-dev libpng-dev\n```\n\nAcquire a sufficiently modern version of `libgrib-api-dev` from APT.
