\n\n# GaiaLab\n\n### About\n\nESAC is responsible for developing and running AGIS, the software that computes the global astrometric parameters for the Gaia mission.\nThe design and validation of Gaia global astrometric mission requires to be able to run simulations that include complex calibration issues.\nThe current state of the art is AgisLab. This code is proprietary of DPAC, the scientific consortium processing the Gaia data\nand responsible for the publication of the final star catalogue.\n\nGaiaLab project is open source, developed by students and going some steps further in order to expose some of the global astrometric issues to a larger community.\n\n---\n\nDocumentation: https://gaialab.readthedocs.io/en/latest/\n\n### Quickstart\n\nFor last stable release:\n```\npip install GaiaLab\n```\n\nFor the latest code:\n```\ngit clone https://github.com/bombrun/GaiaLab\ncd GaiaLab\npip install -r requirements.txt\n```\n\nand enjoy!\n\n> Not yet implemented:\n> For also the notebooks add: \n> cd notebooks \n> pip install -r notebook_requirements.txt \n> \n> and enjoy the notebooks as well!\n\n### What is implemented\n\n##### First version\nThe first version will be based on a very simple model :\n* single source\n* one ccd\n* circular satellite orbit\n* Newtonian physic (no relativity)\n\n##### Second version\nThe second version contain:\n* As many source as we like (max ~1000 for rapid use)\n* Two telescopes (gaia-like)\n* Circular satellite orbit\n* Newtonian physics\n* Solver with source update (attitude update ongoing)\n\n\n### About the theory\n\nThe project will make used of the technical notes written by Lennart Lindegren http://www.astro.lu.se/~lennart/Astrometry/TN.html\n\nIn particular the following notes and papers:\n- (Lindegren, SAG-LL-14)\n- (Lindegren, SAG-LL-30)\n- (Lindegren, SAG-LL-35)\n- The astrometric core solution for the gaia mission, overview of models, algorithms,\nand software implementation, L.Lindegren et al.\n\n\n### For contributors and curious:\n\n* The codestyle tries to follow PEP8 guidelines, for example using linter 2.2 codestyle package. (see https://atom.io/packages/linter as of 20.09.2018)\n\n* The documentation has been created with **sphinx**. It can be build using ```make ***``` with *** replaced with the kind of documentation you like (e.g. ```html```, ```pdf```...) in the **doc** folder. It can also be modified there.
